My journey with cats first began with a lovely calico cat from my host family, and I spent three wonderful years living with her. She was a little aloof by nature—affectionate and clingy at times, but most of the time, she loved keeping to herself and staying cool and independent. I took full care of her every single day as her cat caregiver. I always prepared her meals in advance with careful attention to her portion sizes. Right after school each day, I would rush home to feed her with fresh cat food and tasty treats. I often sat quietly on the sofa to pet and cuddle her, and she would relax completely, rolling over to show her belly and enjoy our cozy bonding time. After I moved to a new place, my next-door neighbor had a sweet little black cat. She was incredibly bold and fearless. After I fed her a few times gently, she grew comfortable with me. She started stopping by my house regularly, coming over to visit every day, and soon became my most frequent little furry guest.
