We do not have any pets of our own in Utrecht. So your fur baby will be the king of the house. In our own home we have cozy seats and couches which your pet is welcome to cuddle and nap on, of course. We do not have an outside space, so you do not have to fear they run away via a garden or balcony. Food will be in kitchen, and litter box in the hallway, away from their food (cats hate it when these are close to each other). For cats we have low windows with wide window sills and cushions for sunny naps with views.

Please let me know how affectionate or not affectionate your cat is, and what their daily routine is. While I always see first what the cat's energy is, it will be handy to understand their usual routines from their humans. This way I can make sure I do not disrupt their daily routines and preferred way of living too much. For example, our little cat Ocean had an absolute favourite fluffy seat to sleep on, but it was a bit too high for her confidence. I needed to pretend I'd give her a little 'bump', and then she would hop on herself.

I will make breakfast for all the creatures in the home, and check if the litterbox needs a scoop or a big clean. Then we play with ribbons and a fluffy toy - if your cat feels up for it. We settle in cozily in the sun on our soft blanket and I will crawl behind my laptop at the table (where cats can join me too) or on the couch. Lots of breaks for play and cuddles during the day!

I am just the biggest animal lover, and I have always had cats my entire life! Mu husband and I recently moved to Utrecht after having lived in South Africa for 16 years. Our senior ginger rescue cat Lunar was unfortunately too fragile to come on the 12 hour plane ride with us, so he now lives happily with our family in Cape Town. We miss him so much, but get daily updates on his playful tricks :) This also means I know exactly how it feels to leave your pet in someone else's care! Daily updates and photo's, slow and thoughtful care for cats in new environments and adapting to the animals's pace and rhythm, I think that is very important. While I love cuddles myself, I pledge to do no 'non-consensual' cuddling if pets need a little more space. They decide the rules, not us. Our own cat Lunar is a rescue and was very traumatized. He has taught me a lot about cats' behavior and how to win their trust with routine and time and careful attention. I work from home most days of the week, so your fur baby is not left alone and gets plenty of attention. We also got plenty of nice and cozy nap spots in the sun, with a lovely view of Karel V hotel. Napping with a view! If you prefer your cat or dog to stay at your own home, I can take my laptop and work from your home too, so they do not have to be home alone for long hours on end.

Sofie was een fantastische kattenoppas voor onze kat Oscar. Vanaf het eerste contact reageerde ze snel en vriendelijk, waardoor de communicatie heel prettig verliep. Ze heeft ontzettend goed voor Oscar gezorgd. Ze hield veel rekening met zijn behoeften, was geduldig en heel lief voor hem. We merkten echt dat ze veel aandacht aan hem besteedde en ervoor zorgde dat hij zich op zijn gemak voelde. Daarnaast stuurde ze regelmatig foto’s en updates, wat voor ons erg fijn was en veel vertrouwen gaf. Het was duidelijk dat Oscar het geweldig naar zijn zin had! Kortom, wij kunnen Sofie van harte aanbevelen aan iedereen die op zoek is naar een betrouwbare, zorgzame en betrokken kattenoppas!
