The sweetest, calm and experienced cat sitter in town!

I’m Vera, I live in Amsterdam and I’m originally from Italy. I’m an animal lover, deeply passionate about nature and cats. I have moved abroad to study and now I have been working for + 5 years as a biodiversity and data analysis officer for an international NGO in the environmental sector.

I do this because I truly love cats and I love helping other people take care of theirs. My love for cats means that I genuinely want to make your cat feel happy, safe, and relaxed while you’re away — so we can have one more happy cat in town. This is something I would ideally like to always keep in my life, as a small job or activity alongside my regular work, simply because it brings me joy and feels meaningful to me.

Back home I have a 17-year-old cat that I’ve taken care of almost entirely by myself since an early age. Growing up with her taught me to be attentive, calm, compassionate, and truly understanding of cats' needs. Because of that, she has always trusted me, sharing a very deep bond.

In Amsterdam I also have two rescue cats. They’re young and full of energy, and they reminded me what it means to have kittens around again - making sure they get the right stimulation, play, routine, and attention (as older cats do too, just in different ways). Living with cats of very different ages and personalities has taught me a lot.

I constantly read and learn about animal behaviour and cat ethology, so I’m used to observing cats carefully and understanding their signals as much as we humans can. Every cat is different, and I’m comfortable with shy, reserved cats like my senior cat, as well as more curious, active, and cuddly cats like my two younger ones.

I genuinely love taking care of cats in my neighbourhood. At the moment, I regularly look after two big Maine Coons for my neighbours, and they’re so happy with my care that I’m their go-to sitter for both short and long trips. I’ve also taken care of friends’ cats in the past, back in Milan, my hometown.

I know how important it is to find someone you can truly trust when you’re away. You can rely on my gentle, calm and sweet presence, and on my experience as both a long-time cat owner and a dedicated cat sitter. I would love to help even more cat parents and take care of their cats as if they were my own.

Also I am great with plants and will take care of any other pet you may have!

I will listen carefully and take note of all the instructions you want to give me, so I can take care of your cats exactly the way you do. I’ll play with them, make sure they have enough activity and stimulation, cuddle them when they want to be cuddled, and leave them alone when they prefer their own space. If you have a garden or specific areas where they usually go, I’ll let them explore safely, following your routine and your instructions.

I’m also very comfortable giving medication, as I’ve done this many times with my own cats. I’m practical, calm and experienced, so administering meds is never a problem for me.

If needed, I can also simply spend quiet time with them, reading a book or working on my laptop, or simply staying there, so they feel company and a calm presence while you’re away.

I can do exactly what you’d like me to do with your cats, because you know best what makes them feel comfortable and happy. I’m very good at following instructions precisely, and also at going with the cats’ flow, understanding their needs, moods, and boundaries.

I’m also a very clean and respectful person, and I’ll always leave your home as clean, or even cleaner, than you left it.
