Over Mij
A cat mom who will make sure your cat is safe, loved, and cared for.
Hi, my name is Alisha! I'm an expat living in Leiden and currently, I'm working on getting my master's degree in Bioinformatics in Amsterdam. Due to my studies, I may have certain periods where I have fewer availabilities so that I can focus more on my coursework.
I adore cats, dogs, and animals in general! My partner and I are happy parents to two sweet cats—Obsidian and Hecate, an energetic, cuddly brother and sister duo—which we both love immensely. I almost cried when our baby Hecate curled up in my lap, purring, and making cookies/kneading for the first time! Since we adopted them, I've been working on clicker training both as a means of providing more mental enrichment and further strengthening my bond with both (and both have now gotten the hang of the command 'sit', 'lay down', 'high five', and more)! Next to this, I'm also working on harness/leash training both, in hopes we can go out on walks together. In my profile picture, Hecate is sitting on my shoulder, which is one of the many things I'm actively working on with both of my kittens (though, so far, only Hecate has been gladly doing it)!
When I was really young, my family adopted a stray cat from the streets of Shanghai (or rather, the cat adopted my family, as she followed my brother and father home)! After that, I was mostly surrounded by dogs. In my early childhood, we had a very sweet mastiff and one of her puppies. A few years later, we adopted a puppy who was one of the daughters of a stray dog in Kazakhstan. I love both cats and dogs equally, the bonds we create with them are incredibly meaningful and fulfilling. They're so much more than just a pet, they're your child, your sibling, your emotional support, your best friend - they are family. My two kittens have definitely tapped into my maternal side from day one!
It's always such a joy seeing cats outside, especially the ones around my neighbourhood and seeing if they might be open for some pets! They always bring a smile to my face!
I understand different cats have different needs: some may be more cuddly or playful, others like having more space, and each of them will open up at their own rate. Regardless of their personality, I will do my best to accommodate to their needs so they feel comfortable and cared for.
Whenever meeting with a potential client, I always take notes on anything important regarding caring for the cats, as well as any other important information (e.g. plants that need watering). This way, I can ensure the best care I can offer.
What I offer is general/overall cat care, which of course includes playing with them, feeding, changing their water, cleaning the litter boxes, giving them pets if they're open to that! If they need to take any medicine in pill or liquid form, I can help with that, please just let me know. If I ever notice there's something that seems different about their behaviour (at least different from what I have seen), I will always make sure to let you know.
If there's anything specific you need around the house (closing/opening curtains or windows at certain hours), I can help with that too.
Depending on the preference of the owner, I will send photos, videos, or both and otherwise text updates on how things are going! I always make sure to ask about all the details in the first meeting and always write them.
If you have plants, I can help watering them, just let me know each plant's individual requirements and I shall help.
If your cat has any health issues, please let me know!
